Africa Sound & Lighting evaluation of Quest Speakers

Africa Sound & Lighting (AS&L) has been involved in the equipment hire and installation businesses for approximately 20 years. Their involvement has ranged from sound & lighting equipment, entertainment shows, sporting events and many functions throughout South Africa.

AS&L recently invested in about 12 Quest 350QS speakers mainly for the events broadwalk and for band monitors. The decision to go for these speakers was evaluated against EV SX 300 and the Mackie C300. Here's what they had to say..

"The first attempt using the speaker was at an event which one of the acts featured our South African top 5 Pop Idols. During the masses screaming we thought the monitors would start distorting with pushing it to the limits but to our amazement they sounded great. Both its competitors have very good points in sound quality, mainly the bottom end and low distortion factor. The Quest performed equally as good and during some recent events, namely the South African National Netball Champs and the International Cartography Convention at the ICC, the speaker performed as a powerful speech projection speakers mount on speaker stands (normally clarity is only achieved by mounting 12” two-way speakers at a height of 3 to 4ms). That gave us great confidence since most competitor speakers cannot perform all these qualities from one type of speaker.

The most interesting events in which we recently used the Quest speaker was at the 2003 Vodacom Beach Africa which is host to the worlds biggest water extravaganza and the Quiksilver World Junior ISA Surfing. The speakers performed great and they looked good.

In summary these Quest speakers are going to be enjoyed and hopefully we will be getting a lot more. Finally, they are competitively priced by Tadco and are backup by the best in the Southern hemisphere."
